What a PMM stores
A PMM combines driver settings, linearisation and ink-limit compensation, and a generated ICC DeviceLink. A media name alone is not enough to make output repeatable.

PMM and DeviceLink: color as a production standard
A PMM is more than an ICC profile: it combines the device, media, mode, linearisation, ink limits, and a DeviceLink target in one production resource.
The official Quick Start Guide describes a PMM as the configuration for a specific printer–media–mode combination. DeviceLink then connects the input reference to the real output of that mode.

Calibration and reference
The calibration layer keeps the device in a known state, while the DeviceLink describes how the target color space is translated into the specific printer–media–mode.

What to test in a trial
Use representative photography, neutral tones, brand colors, and repeat jobs. Evaluate the result visually and by measurement rather than relying on one attractive print.
